2013 the master class in conducting was led by David Robertson, Chief Conductor of the St. Louis Symphony and a regular guest in Lucerne. The program included Olivier Messiaen’s monumental Turangalîla Symphony, a masterpiece of the 20th century. It was demanded of young orchestral conductors not only a great feeling for sound colors and rhythmic precision but also the temperament needed to convey this score’s tremendous energy and joie de vivre.
