One challenge young conductors face is that they rarely have the opportunity to stand in front of a large orchestra and try things out in practice. So it’s all the more important for them to have access to such offerings as the Conducting Fellowship in conducting presented each summer by the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY.
An indication of how successful the Academy has been in the area of promoting young conductors can be seen with Pablo Heras-Casado, who is currently one of the emerging stars on the conducting scene. The Spanish musician, attracted international attention in 2007, when he won the conducting competition held as part of the Lucerne master class.
Application for the Conducting Fellowship 2018 begins in September.
