The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY focuses on three groups of young musicians: instrumentalists, conductors, and composers. During their three weeks in Lucerne, the instrumentalist participants in the Academy join together to form the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra and smaller ensembles. They work on selected solo, chamber music, ensemble, and symphonic works of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Master Classes in Conducting give advanced young conductors at the beginning of their careers the opportunity to work with leading conductors of our time and to study and perform with the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra. Ideally the third group – composers – complements the instrumentalists and conductors to create new works that the others can study and perform together in Lucerne.
